When the Battalion came back to the States in 1971 it came back to Ft. Lewis, WA.
There I quess there was a Change of Command or a Welcome home ceremonies.
These photos were taken be the Post photographer, a relitive of Syd's.
"I myself (SYDNEY CARLSON) was in HQ and HQ battery , 3rd Battalion, 18th Artillery, 23rd infantry Division. I am identified as the one at left shoulder arms with the mustach in the Chu Lai Vietnam photo (top) and identified in the B/W pic 2nd from the left with the mustach in Ft. Lewis. I'm just guessing but one of the individuals in the B/W pic could be identified as Sgt. Bernard Cox."Chu Lai V.N. top photo
